About the role

John Fawkner Private Hospital Day Surgery is returning to full capacity now that pandemic restrictions are lifted and we are looking for experienced Registered Nurses, with full time, part-time and casual opportunities available. We are a supportive, passionate, high-performing team that lifts each other up. Our day surgery/endoscopy unit sees a truly varied case mix across orthopaedics, neuro, interventional endoscopy, general surgery, oncoplastics, cardiac procedures, urology, plastic surgery, vascular, maxillofacial and gastroenterology. Experience in a perioperative environment including anaesthetics and recovery as well as scrub / scout would be advantageous.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, an emergency department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed Critical Care Complex and a busy day surgery/endoscopy unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. 

The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

As a Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include:

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care
• Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
• Ensure patient and staff safety
• Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) to deliver patient care
• Deliver education and support to individuals/patients for the management of their health recover
• Current Registration with AHPRA
• Minimum 2 years’ experience (perioperative post grad desirable)
• Working with Children check
• Commitment to Quality Patient Care
• Compliance with ACSQHC National standards
• Sound clinical decision making and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Works well independently and within a team

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant nursing experience against the current nursing Enterprise Agreement the "Healthscope - Victoria - Nurses' and Midwives' Agreement 2021-2025" (salaries range between $35.33 and $47.25 per hour).
