About the role
As the Senior Health, Safety & Environment Manager for Select Plant Australia, your primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) across the business unit nationally. You will be instrumental in driving a positive HSE culture, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company procedures. and furthering our journey towards contemporary safety principles.
Key responsibilities
Develop, implement and improve the HSE framework for the business operations
Provide strategic leadership for HSE initiatives across operations and functional teams.
Co-ordinate and manage external certification process including the audit process and embedding any continuous improvements identified.
Develop and update Select-specific HSE procedures and forms based on operational requirements.
Review and provide input into work method statements, scopes of work, and work packs to capture all HSE requirements and deliverables
Facilitate or support operational personnel in incident investigations, including Class 1 events, ensuring thoroughness and appropriateness of root cause corrective actions
Foster a culture of respect for the environment and communities in which we work to minimise impacts. Further responsibilities for health and safety, environment and rail safety as specified in the relevant project-specific management plans
About you
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred
Significant experience in HSE management with a track record of driving meaningful change in safety performance, within the equipment/plant hire or related industries
Demonstrated experience in large, organisations, preferably in services, such as logistics, with a strong plant background or related sectors
Strong understanding of state HSE regulations, standards, and best practices
Proficiency in implementing risk-based HS systems and assurance programs, supporting Business Unit & Operations leaders to manage significant HS&E risks involved in the plant industry
ICAM or equivalent investigation training
Lead Auditor Training.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in HSE management systems and software tools
