Gympie Hospital is located in the northern section of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service district, serving residents in the Gympie, Cooloola, and Kilkivan areas, Gympie Hospital offers acute regional services including but not limit to assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a full range of emergency, ambulatory and inpatient conditions within a regional generalist hospital capability level.

The Registered Nurse (RN) leads and delivers person centred nursing care within a dynamic health environment based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. Roles within this level consolidate comprehensive educational preparation as the nurse moves from novice to proficient practitioner and exercises greater levels of autonomy and professional judgement in the clinical setting.

Key recruiting areas include:

Gympie Nursing Pool: Supports the staffing requirements of all inpatient and clinical areas across Gympie Hospital including the Department of Emergency Medicine, Acute Services Unit, Extended Services Unit, Women's Health Unit, Renal and Chemotherapy Services, Ambulatory Care, Operating Suite and Discharge Lounge.

DEM (Department of Emergency): Provides non-discretionary 24-hour emergency care for both adults and children, resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies prior to transfer when required.

Extended Services Unit (ESU): Provides acute and sub-acute regional services within a CSCF Level 3. ESU is a 14-bed unit comprising of an eight bed sub-acute rehabilitation service, four bed satellite acute stroke unit and two bed palliative care service.

Acute Services Unit (ASU): Include – acute medical care (respiratory, cardiac, endocrine, infectious), minor trauma including uncomplicated fractures, geriatrics (delirium, cognitive impairment, elderly and frail, respite), mental health, acute oncology / haematology, palliative and end of life care, short stay surgical cases to a CSCF Level 3.

Paediatric Inpatient Unit: Provides care for low to moderate acuity paediatric medical inpatients to a CSCF Level 3, encompassing a day procedure service, outpatient reviews and assists with inter-hospital transfers requiring a higher level of care.

Salary between $3,171.90 - $4,068.50 p.f. (F/T) or salary rates: $41.73 - $53.53 p.h. (P/T), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 5).
