Fixed term temporary part-time position, 40 hours per fortnight, up to three years

Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) is searching for a passionate educator to contribute to the development and implementation of an innovative work readiness program for International Medical Graduate Doctors. 

The North Queensland International Medical Graduate Preparation Program (NQ IMG Prep) aims to create a pipeline of locally trained, orientated and work ready IMG Doctors for the medical workforce across North Queensland.

The Senior Medical Education Officer will collaborate with the program team, program candidates, other program stakeholders and Senior Medical Staff to assess training needs for International Medical Graduates, and to develop, enhance and deliver training to meet these needs. 

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability and experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of education and training programs.
  • Understanding of curriculum assessment processes and procedures.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles.
  • High level knowledge and application of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, curriculum and prevocational accreditation standards for medical education programs.
  • High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to consult, negotiate, and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level problem solving and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Generous remuneration package value up to $75,791 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $59.02 to $63.65 p.h. (PO4)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Tertiary-level qualification in either education or a health-related discipline.
  • Highly Desirable:
    • Demonstrated experience in education and/or clinical teaching.
    • Demonstrated experience in education of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
