About the Role

The purpose to the position is to provide assistance to Medical and Nursing staff, by following established standards and procedures within a highly compatible and supportive Operating Theatre environment.

  • Maintain hygiene and cleaning standards in accordance with Department of Health and Infection Control Guidelines.
  • Fulfil the accountabilities and responsibilities of this role in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives, as outlined below.
  • Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Commit to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by actively participating in safety and quality practices.
  • Perform all cleaning duties as required for the Operating Theatres.
  • Assist Clinical/Medical staff as required and be able to operate independently or as part of a clinical team.
  • Work with Operating Suite equipment and set up theatres for surgical requirements according to set guidelines.
  • Transport, move and position patients within operating theatre complex as required.
  • Ensure all patient and hospital information remains strictly confidential.
  • Communicate with, and display care and consideration whilst dealing with, patients, public and other staff.
  • Pathology deliveries
