About us:

The Central Sterilising Department (CSD) is a critical service to the Rockhampton Hospital, reprocessing high volumes of reusable surgical instruments and other patient care related equipment daily. CSD functions within a team focused environment, to maintain objectives in productivity, which contributes directly to the continuum of patient care. The CSD operates directly from the guidelines outlined in the National Standards in Reprocessing (Australia and New Zealand 4187:2014), Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices in Health Service Organisations, in addition to the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses and the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia.

About the role:

The Enrolled Nurse in CSD provides comprehensive, evidence-based, delegated reprocessing/sterilising practices under the direct/indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. 

About you:

  • Mandatory qualifications/requirements:
    • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    • A Certificate III in Sterilising Services is a mandatory requirement for this position and appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Consideration may be given to applicants who can provide evidence of proof of actively and progressively studying towards completion of the Certificate III.
  • Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: Whilst not mandatory perioperative instrument nursing experience is desirable.
  • Interest in working within the Central Sterilising Department.

Total remuneration value of up to $72,639 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A hourly rate between $35.92 - $38.12 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.
