The role:

The Strategic Portfolio Office within eHealth Queensland provides strategic portfolio services to the Queensland Health digital portfolio. Through its five teams – Risk, Assurance, Benefits, Investment Governance and Appraisal and Performance & Analytics – the Strategic Portfolio Office draws on its experience, knowledge and judgement to assist Queensland Health deliver the Queensland Health digital portfolio in an efficient and prudent way that is consistent with the digital agenda.

This position reports to the Manager, Portfolio Performance and Analytics and is responsible for supporting the portfolio management capability of the Queensland Health Digital Portfolio. The position provides the information needed to enable action to be taken to address delivery issues or poor performing strategically necessary initiatives through timely and high-quality analysis, data management and dashboard visualisations, and written and verbal briefings.

Central to this role is a passion for analysis, and ability to clearly communicate and manage multiple priorities and a willingness to build strong relationships within the team and portfolio stakeholders.

Queensland Health utilises the Queensland Government ICT Skills Framework which, in addition to the National Health Service (NHS) Leadership Qualities Framework, references capabilities from the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), under licence from the SFIA foundation. Further information on the SFIA can be accessed via the Queensland Government Chief Information Office and NHS at NHS Leadership Qualities Framework. The essential requirements for this role are:

Skills

  • Extensive experience and knowledge in critically analysing and visualising data using dashboards to derive clear conclusions and actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve performance management and analytics and deliver these
  • Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills , including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategi and operational responses to key issues affecting the performance of the portfolio
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a diplomatic approach and ability to liaise and relate to a wide range of stakeholders including senior and executive stakeholders

Knowledge

  • Experience critically analysing datasets and portfolios/investments, and clearly briefings on finding and recommendations
  • Experience analysis and visualising data with digital dashboard and analytical tools
  • Training or experience in Portfolio or Programme Management
  • Whilst not mandatory, experience in relational database programming (SQL) and Microsoft Power BI would be well regarded

Qualifications

  • Whilst not mandatory, a qualification in economics, finance, statistics computer/data science would be well regarded
  • Whist not mandatory, a Management of Portfolios (MoP) accreditation would be well regarded
  • All applicants must be wiling to undertake a National Police Security Check
