 Tell me more...The Clinical Nurse demonstrates clinical leadership and management qualities in the provision of quality, cost effective, patient/client/resident centred nursing care in consultation with other members of the health care team and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's National competency standards for the registered nurse. They provide best practise nursing care in the assessment and treatment of patients/clients/residents to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life. They are a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing educational support to others, planning and evaluating nursing care and providing clinical supervision and nursing leadership as required. They assume individual accountability for actions within the Clinical Nurse position at Cooktown General Ward.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Implement and monitor KPIs for the General Ward care in conjunction with the National Safety Quality Healthcare Standards, assist in the coordination of audit completion and Audit reporting for quality improvement processes
  • Delivers advanced holistic patient/ client / resident care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation across the patient's journey using clinical nursing experience and expertise to provide care.
  • Develop sustainable succession planning for the ongoing delivery of health care services within the portfolio of the General Ward
  • Participate in unit-based research activities that will potentially lead to enhanced patient care outcomes and practices

Requirements for the role:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a registered Nurse in a ward / rural environment
  • It is a mandatory condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) hepatitis B.
