As a Respiratory Therapist III, you will report to the Patient Care Manager and Unit Manager, Operative Services Level 3.As a member of the anesthesia care team, the RT III provides technical and clinical expertise under the direction of the Physicians of the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. This position is primarily for the Level 3 Surgical Suites of the Walter MacKenzie Centre. This position will also include supporting Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Stollery Children’s Hospital as well as anesthesia locations in Endoscopy, Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging.There is an expectation of this role to provide education, coordinate learning and orientation for new hires to the RT team.As the in-scope supervisor of the anesthesia care team, in collaboration with the Unit Manager, prepares and schedules RT II assignments throughout the three surgical suites and multiple Out of OR locations.Organizes the team’s daily workload to provide safe and effective anesthesia support.In-services the team on new policies, equipment and procedures.Develop and provide learning and orientation packages for new staff.Demonstrated/proven mentorship and teaching experience.Demonstrated ability to create learning plans and orientation tools for new staff.Assessing, supporting and providing education for departmental needs. Reviewing staff competencies (WCAM).Ensure staff competencies in Connect Care & other technologies.
Description:As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience in the RT II (Anesthesia) role.Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.Demonstrated supervisory skills.Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.Ability to work under stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous pediatric and intensive care experience is an asset.
