The Position
Warrnambool Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in our Emergency Department, managing a wide range of medical emergencies and contributing to the overall excellence of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Deliver safe, effective, and responsive care to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Emergency Management: Handle a broad spectrum of emergencies, including adult medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, trauma, and various specialty cases.
  • Trauma Center Duties: Manage major trauma cases from road, farm, and industrial incidents, as Warrnambool Hospital serves as a regional trauma center.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, ICU, Plastics, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, General Surgery, and Medicine to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Teaching and Supervision: Assist the Clinical Director in developing and implementing teaching programs, and supervise the clinical practice and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Community Engagement: Provide ambulatory care and medical advice to regional hospitals and remote communities within the catchment area.
Qualifications:
  • Medical Registration: Hold or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience: Extensive experience in the broad practice of Emergency Medicine, with proficiency in managing a diverse array of patient conditions and acuity levels.
  • Professional Credentials: Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent qualification.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to Education: Demonstrated commitment to the education and training of medical students and junior doctors.

The Requirements
We are seeking candidates who meet one or more of the following criteria:
  • AHPRA Registration: Hold or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience: Possess at least 12 months of recent experience as an FACEM demonstrating proficiency in a wide range of ED procedures and patient care.
  • FRACS: Hold or be eligible for the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FACEM).
  • ACEM Trainee: Be a ACEM trainee approaching Fellowship, showcasing commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the field.
