Tell me more...Deliver a culturally safe and responsive Senior Occupational Therapy service within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service organisational goals. Work within a rural generalist occupational therapy scope of practice, which may include skill sharing clinical tasks between professions, and use of telehealth/ehealth solutions to optimise service access for rural and remote communities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to clients living in a remote setting with a primarily Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, across the life span and continuum of care with varied conditions ranging from routine to complex.
  • Apply a highly developed generalist scope of occupational therapy practice to meet the wide range of clinical presentations including paediatrics, frail aged, hand therapy and lymphoedema/compression garments services, with external specialist support as required and/or willingness to upskill in these areas.
  • Collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and others where indicated, to design, adapt, implement and evaluate culturally safe and responsive interventions to achieve positive outcomes in relation to both individual client goals and organisational goals.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • Potential applicants are advised that Section 63-1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health to seek a criminal conviction record report from the Australian Federal Police; conduct a search of bankruptcy records; and conduct previous employment and referee checks.
