The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager (Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide for safe access to needed medical, social, educational, vocational, psycho-social and other necessary services as they relate to the consumers mental health needs, and their recovery
  • Work with the consumer, families, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team to facilitate effective and efficient discharge planning including appropriate community agency referrals
  • Accountable for accurate data management and record maintenance using various systems
  • Undertake a portfolio reflective of skills and level of practice.

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
  • A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $132 562 - $143 924 per annum

About Us

The new 20 bed Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU) will open on the Gold Coast in February 2025. This is part of a 40-bed SMHRU service and will provide world class, compassionate, person centred mental healthcare that fosters recovery of consumers, families and carers for those consumers with complex mental health and addiction issues.
