The role 
Provide senior clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within the Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS) environment in a rural and remote location.  This dynamic position services a 15 bed rural facility, comprising of 6 aged care and 9 acute inpatient beds.  This position oversees the six MPHS beds.

Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service 
The Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service is a 24-hour accident and emergency hospital with a 15-bed acute facility, general medical and six long-stay nursing home-type beds. The centre has visiting services including Royal Flying Doctors Service, female GP, paediatrician and chest physician.

Employment Term
Permanent part-time, 48 hours per fortnight.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
  • Highly Desirable: 
    • Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant qualification.
    • Extensive experience in Emergency Department, Rural and Remote Nursing and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
  • Adult Life Support Certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per Townsville Hospital and Health Service policy Life Support Training and Assessment -THSDCLI040151v6 (http://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/tville/policies/thsdcli/thsdcli040151.pdf(PDF) ( http://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/tville/policies/thsdcli/thsdcli040151.pdf ))
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work Monday to Friday 08:00 hrs - 16:30 hrs in accordance with the unit roster
  • On call: Appointees will be required to participate in an on-call roster.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.  Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Aged Care Pre Employment Screening will be required: Under section 96-1 of the Aged Care Act 1997 and the Department of Health Police Certificate Guidelines 2017, appointees to the position will require a current National Police Certificate. Townsville HHS will facilitate applicants obtaining the above check.
