The role:

As a member of the Cultural Assessment and Liaison Team (CALT), Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service and Specialist Services Program Area you will participate in and contribute to the delivery of a culturally sensitive and appropriate care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients who access the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: 

  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural/historical issues which impact on the mental health, Drug and Alcohol and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge to liaise and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, community organisations and communities.
  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to achieve team goals.
  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge to work collaboratively with other service providers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals/community groups to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate social and emotional wellbeing and mental illness prevention programs.
  • Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Mental Health Policy, and Mental Health

Employment Term

  • Permanent full-time

  • Base comprising salary between $65,662- $69,500 p.a.

Role requirements   

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • Blue Card Checks required.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the service.
