The Location A vibrant regional center in tropical North Queensland, the region serves a population of over 180,000. The Hospital
The hospital recently underwent a major $408 million overhaul and expansion, doubling the number of beds to over 300 and adding 40,000m² of space, including a new Emergency Department. It is now a state-of-the-art, fully modern facility and one of Australia's largest regional healthcare centers. The hospital is accredited for training with several medical colleges and offers a wide range of specialist services to the local community, including Emergency Department, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Anesthetics, ICU, Coronary Care, Psychiatry, Aged Care, Renal Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Palliative Care, and Day Surgery.
The Requirements
Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution
AHPRA Registration with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
Qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution and experience appropriate for current registration as a Specialist in Medicine with the Medical Board of Australia.
In general, this will require the FRACP
or equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification and eligibility for accreditation as a RACP – approved supervisor.
