The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, handling requests for medical records in compliance with HIPAA, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the timely and accurate management of medical records.Key Responsibilities:- Manage and maintain patient medical records in both physical and electronic formats.- Process requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, ensuring compliance with all HIPAA regulations.- Verify the accuracy and completeness of medical records before release.- Assist in the digitization of paper records and the implementation of electronic health records (EHR) systems.- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless records management.- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance.- Respond to queries and provide support to patients and healthcare providers regarding medical records.- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.Qualifications:- Associates or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or a related field.- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or similar is preferred.- 2+ years of experience in medical records management.- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations.- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
