The Location

If you spent a week here you would not exhaust the richness of this remarkable and historic city with rich surrounding agricultural area’s and then to a major administrative centre and, most recently, an important regional academic centre with a number of prominent schools and the main campus of Charles Sturt University.

The Facility
This is a 200 bed acute and extended care facility which provides surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and psychiatry services as well as extended care and regional services. A high incidence of road accidents, skin cancer, farm injuries and work safety accidents occur in the region. Population numbers swell during the fruit harvest season when an estimated 10,000 itinerant workers from throughout Australia and overseas visit the region. Snake bites, cuts, scratches to the eyes from branches, injuries caused by falling from a fruit picking ladder and allergic reactions are among the most common conditions treated during the this period.

The Role
The hospital is looking for an experienced Paediatrician. The services are to include:-

• Conducting outpatient clinics
• Providing emergency on call services
• Providing Level 2 neonatal services
• Providing consultative service to the Emergency and other departments
• Providing paediatric support to community health services
• Contribute to Paediatric service direction and planning and the effective management of resources
• Support the development of regional paediatric outreach services
• Be involved in the existing indigenous health clinics and refuges health clinics
