About your opportunity

This role has the privilege of leading teams of medical staff and services dedicated to improving the care for children and adolescent specialties in northern Queensland and for the THHS respectively.  The role is important within the Women's and Children's Service Group to achieving the Townsville Hospital and Health Services vision of increasing the health and wellbeing of people in the Townsville community through the delivery of high quality, safe, effective and sustainable care. 

The role represents a key area of medical leadership and will provide expert medical advice for these services based on knowledge of contemporary medical models and best practice standards.  The role is vital for ongoing delivery and development of children's and adolescent services, working with the Department of Health and key northern partners to ensure sustainable access to care in North Queensland. 

As the Medical Director Children's services, you may be a practicing clinician and may retain responsibility for managing a clinical case load, the size of which will be negotiated with the Service Group Director upon commencement. 

Role requirements:

• Relevant qualifications in a medical speciality with current AHPRA registration.
• Current 'C' class motor vehicle licence.
• Travel will be required in this position both within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service and throughout Queensland which may include travel by small aircraft.
• It is also a requirement of the position to participate in on call rostering for the Townsville Hospital and Health Service medical services.

Generous remuneration package comprising salary range of $97.84 to $124.05 p.h. (+ other applicable allowances/benefits) (L18-L27), 17.5% leave loading, 12.75 % employer contribution to superannuation, attraction and retention incentive allowance, regional and rural attraction allowance, motor vehicle allowance professional development assistance (allowances and leave), and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable). Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications. Other employment benefits may include: corporate discounts, wellness programs and the Employee Assistance Program.
