About the role

Fixed term temporary full time opportunity for twelve months.

The Senior Registrar / Fellow in Exenteration Surgery is an integral team member within the Statewide Pelvic Exenteration Service. They are responsible for assisting the smooth running of the service which includes receiving calls from referring hospitals, coordinating the timely review of potential patients, and running the pelvic exenteration planning meeting. They also are involved in all other aspects of colorectal surgery within the unit both at RBWH and STARS, thereby receiving broad experience in the management of all benign and malignant colorectal conditions.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Assist in the training of the General Surgical Registrars and be responsible for supervising and assisting surgical registrars and principal house officers to initiate and complete research projects for presentation and publication.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient services in General Surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and STARS
  • Assist in organising outpatient clinics, waiting lists and operating lists for maximum efficiency.
  • Play an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate training in General Surgery.
