The role  
In this role, you will be responsible for assigning accurate ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes in the 12th Edition according to Australian Coding Standards (ACS), National and State Coding Authority, and Queensland Health Guidelines within designated times. You will extract relevant information from patient records and all available clinical information systems to ensure data completeness and accuracy. Additionally, you will complete Queensland Cancer Registry notifications and collect/flag clinical indicator and audit data as part of the coding process.

You will utilize appropriate resources and applications and liaise with team members and clinicians to clarify information (via a CCL process) when necessary. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the integrity and reliability of inpatient morbidity data.

The successful person
To be successful in this role, you must have proof of a qualification in Clinical Coding (from an appropriate registration authority) either a Diploma in Clinical Coding or a relevant qualification such as a Certificate in Clinical Classification. You should demonstrate coding experience across a wide range of DRGs along with at least two years of full-time coding experience in a hospital setting. 

Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification in Intermediate, Advanced ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS Clinical Coding Courses (or their equivalents) or a university degree in Health Information Management would be highly desirable.

The State Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Coding Support Team provide strategic consultancy advice, support, guidance and mentoring to Hospital and Health Service executive, finance and health information management and clinical coding teams in relation to activity data as it pertains to healthcare funding. This includes health information data flows, activity data standards, clinical coding, coding audit, optimisation opportunities and workflow improvement.

This role reports directly to the State Professional Lead Clinical Coding.
