About your opportunity:

Permanent part-time, 56 hours per fortnight / Location: Charters Towers

The Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients/clients and nursing staff within the Unit to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA - Registered nurse standards for practice ( https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Codes-Guidelines-Statements/Professional-standards/registered-nurse-standards-for-practice.aspx ).

  • Salary range of $41.73 to $53.53 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)

Requirements:

  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Experience in Emergency Department and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
  • Adult Life Support certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per THHSCLI040151 Life Support Training and Assessment (https://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0038/475778/thhscli040151.pdf(PDF) ( https://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0038/475778/thhscli040151.pdf ))
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
