The role  
Reporting to the Manager, Statutory Clinical Support and Integration, you will actively contribute to various aspects of patients' rights and quality improvement projects stemming from the Better Care Together initiative. This includes research, analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of projects aimed at enhancing the state-funded mental health, alcohol, and other drug service system. Notably you will play a key role in initiatives such as improving access to legal advocacy and supports in Tribunal and court matters.

Your duties will encompass supporting project delivery within the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, aligning with Queensland Health project management methodologies to achieve timely and quality outcomes. This involves assisting in correspondence preparation on behalf of the Chief Psychiatrist and senior departmental officers. Moreover, you will actively contribute to the development of educational resources essential for the effective administration of the Mental Health Act 2016. Administrative support for stakeholder liaison, quality improvement activities, and the Legislation Unit teams' functions, including providing support for complex care meetings. will also be part of your responsibilities, as you promote restorative harm minimisation strategies and ethical decision-making to advance the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist's effectiveness.

The successful person
To excel in this position, you should possess proven organisational and administrative competencies, including the aptitude to prioritise tasks, manage conflicting demands, coordinate various activities, and evaluate the efficacy of implemented strategies and projects, with the capability to furnish comprehensive reports to management. Additionally, you should either possess knowledge or rapidly acquire an understanding of the interpretation and requirements of relevant legislation and policies, such as the Mental Health Act 2016, the Forensic Disability Act 2011, and the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000, along with their intricate connections across government, non-government, and private sectors.

Furthermore, you should demonstrate the ability to research complex policy matters and offer precise and prompt counsel to management regarding these concerns. Your proficiency should extend to adept oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and negotiation abilities, enabling effective interaction with diverse stakeholders and ensuring proficient handling of intricate policy issues.

The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.
