Job Advert: Visiting Medical Officers in Anaesthesia

The Rural Referral Hospital is seeking Visiting Medical Officers in Anaesthesia to join its expanding department. You will become part of a highly respected and experienced team providing specialist services to the patients of this major referral hospital. Serving the New England North West region of NSW, with a population of approximately 175,000, the hospital is the largest healthcare facility in NSW outside the Sydney-Wollongong-Newcastle metropolis. It boasts 348 treatment spaces, an 8-theatre operating complex (6 in current operation), and a recently opened outpatient clinic center. It is also a Level 3 regional trauma service, one of three regional trauma centers referring to John Hunter Hospital.
Our current team includes 11 consultants, 1 Provisional Fellow, and 5 Registrars/Advanced Trainees. The facility is an accredited training site with ANZCA for 104 weeks.

The City

• The Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) working full-time equivalent hours will commit to a minimum 1-in-16 on-call roster, with commitment assessed proportionately to actual hours worked.
• The VMO agrees to participate in a 24-hour roster consisting of two 12-hour shifts, with a sessional hourly rate for emergency on-call (24 hours).
• The VMO will be paid an additional hour each day worked for supervising and training accredited ANZCA and General Practice Anaesthetic Trainees.
