The Role

An opportunity has become available for two Pharmacy Assistant / Technicians - Senior (Cancer and Blood Disorders) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Assist with medication order and prescription preparation for all patients
  • Sterile and non-sterile compounding of products using approved personal protective equipment and procedures to produce patient specific treatments
  • Maintain stock of pharmaceuticals including high cost drugs, equipment and consumables at required levels through order creation, unpacking and putting away and rotating stock as required
  • Conduct daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning of production equipment including pharmaceutical isolators

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Qualification with a minimum of Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT40512) that includes at least one aseptic/cytotoxic handling module
  • Availability to participate in weekend rosters providing a 7-day extended hours' pharmacy service
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time and temporary part time (one full time position and one part time position, up to 12 months, with possibility of extension, hours negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $73 861 - $78 977 per annum or $37.25 - $39.83 per hour

The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, 7 days a week. Our team of approximately 100 pharmacists are assisted in their roles by over 40 support persons comprising pharmacy assistants, administration officers, purchasing and stores personnel.
