About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in at least one clinical areas which has been obtained through significant professional development activities, post-graduate education or formal qualification(s).
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate current professional development and evidence-based practice principles into clinical management.
  • Demonstrate leadership, knowledge and abilities to manage a small team and organise work unit structure.
  • Demonstrate high level communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively at a high-level providing support and leadership within a multidisciplinary team and with a diverse range of clients.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will independently deliver high level dietetic clinical services to patients of Cairns Hospital. This position provides clinical leadership within the team including clinical practice supervision of relevant staff/students. To be recognised as a reference point for dietetic staff, and other health professionals, managers and health care consumers of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

About your role:

  • Deliver high level dietetic clinical and consultancy services as part of a multi-professional team, in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • Undertake clinical governance activities to improve clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the service, engaging cross-discipline referencing where relevant. Provide clinical practice supervision to staff, assistants and support staff, to ensure the maintenance of these clinical standards.
  • Contribute to the daily operational management of the team and organisation of the workload with allocated resources using planning, time management skills and prioritisation.
  • Provide clinical education, guidance and support to physiotherapy students, less experienced physiotherapists, allied health assistants, work experience students and other relevant staff.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively by maintaining timely and open communication (including accurate documentation and reporting) within multi-professional teams, with patients, their families/carers and other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers as required.
