In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (inc. spouse/dependents) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave; of which we offer 5 weeks p.a. with a 17.5% loading/bonus.

The location

Mornington Island (Gunana); the largest of the North Wellesley Islands located in the Gulf of Carpentaria that is currently home to a community of approximately 1500 people.

The Island achieved self-governance in 1978 and is now controlled by the Mornington Shire Council ( https://www.mornington.qld.gov.au/ ).

The Traditional Owners are the Lardil people.

Staff accommodation (if available) or a private rental subsidy of $82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Transfer and appointment expenses may be negotiated.

About the role

The facility is a remote level two (2) hospital under the Rural and Remote Clinical Services Capability Framework with 11 inpatient beds; providing 24/7 acute inpatient and accident and emergency care as well as a comprehensive range of community health services.

This role works within the Mornington Island Hospital providing advanced professional and clinical leadership in the delivery and coordination of professional, safe and quality patient and family centered nursing care, and is committed to enhancing and enabling patient experience and outcomes by leading support, collaboration, and partnership with patient, families/carers and other health service providers at Mornington Island Hospital.

Requirements

  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • Pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks, will be conducted for the successful applicant.
  • VPD risk role. Requires evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • A 6-month period of probation may apply.
