Location: The city has a large commercial centre which incorporates the major regional railway station. Sidewalk cafes, restaurants and shopping arcades mark the commercial centre. Amble along the wide tree-lined streets, beautiful gardens and spacious parklands and see remnants of the gold rush years reflected in the architecture of the city. As the region's entertainment capital, the city is flush with alfresco dining options and a thriving pubs and clubs scene.
South of the city the Strzelecki Ranges offer a number of scenic tourist drive routes, including the Grand Ridge Road and the route to the Tarra Bulga National Park. North there are extensive alpine ranges which include such attractions as the ski resort of Mount Baw Baw, the Thompson Dam (which provides Melbourne with its largest supply of water), a number of state and national parks, and the historic community of Walhalla.
The Hospital: This hospital is the major provider of specialist health services in the region, east of Melbourne. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care. A number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool.
The Role: Full-time – Emergency Medicine FACEM – Start dates negotiable. Provide clinical leadership within the Hospital Emergency Department, through active patient assessment, support and leadership of junior medical staff, and co-ordination of patient management in collaboration with nursing staff and admitting inpatient units to achieve ED performance indicators and organisational targets.
Emergency Medicine Physicians require knowledge and experience in the broad practice of Emergency Medicine, including adult medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry, trauma, toxicology and the full range of emergencies encountered in various specialties. The Requirements:
