About us:

Emerald Hospital is located 300kms west of the Queensland coastline. The population of the surrounding community is approximately 28,000 with 15,000 at Emerald. There are two small hospitals within 100kms, located at Blackwater and Springsure. Emerald Hospital is a 32-bed facility, has two operating theatres and approximately 160 staff delivering services across acute, community and primary care.

About the role:

The Emergency Administration role is ideal for a dynamic self-motivated person who thrives on working in a busy, fast paced environment. You are required to provide a high standard of administrative support to all functional areas within the Emergency Department. 

  • Respond to general reception enquiries for the department by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workload effectively and perform duties responsibly in the absence of supervision and execute ethical decision-making in the achievement of departmental and organisational objectives.
  • Provide and maintain a high degree of confidentiality to ensure patient and staff privacy in all aspects of the position.

About you:

  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded.
  • Sound communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and sensitively with all levels of staff, patients, and the general public.
  • Ability to respond effectively and immediately in emergency situations by following internal procedures and protocols.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $47,405 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $37.68 - $41.90 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
