Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, invites applications for a Nephrologist to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canadas premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canadas largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people.

The Division of Nephrology and Immunology at the University of Albert provides leadership to the educational and administrative activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and Alberta Health Services. The Royal Alexandra Hospital Nephrology group serves patients in the Edmonton zone and the North zone and is a busy clinical service.

Key accountabilities for the one position will include, but not limited to: 10-12 on call weeks of inpatient service per year, where each service week includes: coverage of the inpatient Nephrology ward, inpatient Consult service as well as hemodialysis coverage at an inpatient hemodialysis unit and two outpatient units. The remainder of the weeks in the year (i.e. the weeks not on call) will be dedicated to managing outpatient general nephrology clinic patients at a private clinic and at a hospital-based outpatient CKD clinic as well as managing peritoneal dialysis patients.
