The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Assistant Director of Nursing (Patient Access and Flow Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Be responsible for the operations and strategic direction of the service
  • Coordinate and participate in data management and portfolio activities for patient flow strategies
  • Manage surge response related to Patient Flow operational and strategic initiatives
  • Provide nursing leadership and management to the Patient Flow and Access team
  • Lead, develop, support, implement and drive strategic direction and changes in patient flow demand

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time (10 weeks)
  • Base salary ranging from $5973.00 - $6262.40 per fortnight

About Us

The Patient Access and Flow Unit (PAFU) provides centralised coordination of patient access and allocation of movements through the acute care setting – the right patient, admitted to the right bed, at the right time.

The PAFU teams manage the daily fluctuations in demand capacity management through the opening and closing of the Hospital and Health Service bed platforms, and consulting regarding nursing and midwifery workforce requirements in a proactive real-time approach.
