About the role

Permanent full time opportunity to undertake technical and support tasks under the supervision of senior Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists, including medicines distribution, stock management, product preparation, prescription processing and associated activities. Contribute to the provision of a safe and effective hospital pharmacy service that is aligned to organisational goals and values, best practice, professional standards and legislative requirements.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Assist with the preparation of aseptic and non-aseptic products in accordance with standard formulations and procedures including preparing cytotoxic, immunotherapies and repackaging of pharmaceuticals. Validation of aseptic competencies must be maintained.
  • Provide efficient and accurate medicines distribution services to hospital wards and clinical areas including maintenance of stock levels of pharmaceuticals, stock rotation, expiry date management, returns and disposal in accordance with department policies & procedures.
  • Manage patient/staff enquiries including confirmation of patient/staff identification, screening submitted prescriptions for validity, retrieving dispensed medicines and advising of prescription wait times.
  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation, recording and auditing of Schedule 8 medicine orders for hospital wards and clinical areas including liaising with the multidisciplinary team to complete orders. 
  • Contribute to a positive work culture by communicating effectively, actively participating in the pharmacy team, engaging in learning opportunities and following relevant policies and procedures.
