The Stomal Therapy and Wound Management department within the SCHHS provides care to inpatients and outpatients with wounds and stomas.

This role has links with most departments within the Health Service, both inpatient and outpatient.

The Stomal Therapy and Wound Management unit role is:

  • To provide a consultive and advisory service that delivers clinical expertise, education and administration of the support services of Stomal Therapy and Wound Management in the Sunshine Coast Health Service District
  • To provide best practice care supported by evidence and research to achieve optimal outcomes and meet the needs of patients with stomas and / or wounds.

Your key responsibilities

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Service Values.
    • Contribute to and maintaining the healthcare environment.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for staff and the recipients of healthcare services.
  • Support the Stomal Therapy and Wound Management team in the delivery of care to inpatient and outpatient clients across the continuum of care. For example:
    • Manage and monitor Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) device usage (VACs).
      • Maintenance of negative pressure machines (ie cleaning machines, ensuring charged machines available for patient use).
      • Tracking of negative pressure machine use (maintain accurate records of negative pressure machines use / location).
    • Assist to clean equipment, manage general stores and undertake basic cares of inpatients and clients of the Wound / Stoma clinic under direction of NP / CNC / CN.
    • Assist with distribution / transporting wound and stoma equipment / dressings to Wards as required by Wound / Stoma team.

Salary between $77,840 - $82,599 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 4). Applications will remain current for 12 months.
