About the role

The position will liaise closely with surgical teams located in individual theatres, problem solve and assist the Operating Theatre Assistants to provide a timely, responsive service to the surgical team and clients.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Provide effective coordination and performance of Operational Services staff within a Theatre environment, ensuring compliance with relevant Cleaning Standards, Waste Management, Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Infection Control standards.
  • Build a positive team environment through collaboration with nursing, surgical and operational staff to build trust.
  • Provide support with all Operating Theatre Assistant duties as required.
  • Actively contribute to developing a culture of patient first ensuring the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Support staffing procedures to ensure staffing resources are used efficiently through approving rostering and allocation processes and oversee and promote absenteeism management within the department including Work Cover processes and issues.
  • Use appropriate communication strategies for negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Identify opportunities and actively participate in continuous improvement of service delivery.
  • Actively participate in the Health Service Performance Planning and Appraisal and Individual Development Planning processes.
  • Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with the WMHHS core values.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Manage the performance appraisal and development of staff.
  • Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients and visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • High level knowledge and experience working in Operational Services within a Theatre environment and in the use of appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to assist lead and manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively negotiate, consult and build rapport with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage departmental changes
  • Strong wrtitten and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively across a range of electronic mediums.
