The Consultant General Physician is required to:

  • Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to General Medicine patients, both in terms of individual performance and by clinical leadership and contribution to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care.
  • Provide a professional medical service in accordance with Regional, Hospital and departmental policy manuals and documents, and also in accordance with the Professional standards of the Australasian College for Physicians.
  • Active involvement in teaching trainee medical officers, interns and medical students and, where appropriate, nursing and allied health.
  • Participation in clinical audit and quality, safety and clinical risk management activities.
  • Participation in research and continuous medical education activities.

About You

  • Must hold Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. 
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications.
  • Registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Fellow of the College of Physicians.
  • Experience in the provision of General Medicine within the local and regional referral network.
  • Experience in General Medicine and patient management.
  • Experience in quality improvement activities.
  • Experience in research and teaching.

Port Lincoln Hospital  a modern 48-bed hospital complete with Special Care unit, Chemotherapy/Renal dialysis Unit and Operating Rooms facilities. There is a wide range of visiting surgeons and the facility provides medical, special care, surgical, obstetric, palliative care and services for children. Situated in a beautiful coastal location, Port Lincoln Hospital is one of four rural general hospitals in South Australia, and has a range of clinical specialties along with a large and stable workforce.

Total Indicative Remuneration (TIRP) includes Award Salary, Leave Loading, Professional Development, A&R allowance and Superannuation.
