The Mental Health Inpatient Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Mental Health Clinician (Health Practitioner) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

  • To provide high level complex clinical assessment, treatment and consultancy services, operating with a significant degree of independence and autonomy to clients in the inpatient Mental Health Unit.
  • The position provides clinical leadership as the Allied Health senior, including coordination of clinical services within the Mental Health Inpatient Unit.
  • This position will be required to provide clinical and operational supervision of the roles which make up the Allied Health team within the Mental Health Inpatient Unit. These include Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Recreational Officer.

About the Team

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides care to people who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness. If a person is admitted to an acute inpatient unit, it is often because their mental illness is not manageable in a less restrictive setting, such as community-based support. Acute inpatient treatment services provide care to individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of serious mental illness including Depression, Schizophrenia, Schizo-affective disorder, bipolar disorder and personality disorder.
