About the role

The clinical midwife works in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide woman and family centred, quality, safe patient care. This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Antenatal/Gynaecology Clinic    within an outpatient setting.

The Clinical Midwife's expert clinical leadership and care within a specific area supporting the general function of the unit through the application of the principles of best practice, education, leadership and portfolio management who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including patients/families, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies).

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of antenatal caredelivering expert midwifery care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards which impact on midwifery practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive workplace culture through role-modelling well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, engaging professionally with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors.
  • Demonstrates a strong team commitment through ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and lead quality improvement and research initiatives within the work unit, contributing to the use of evidence-based practice to facilitate improved patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in the multidisciplinary team to identify areas for improvement in work practices and outcomes and contribute to the continued improvement of policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity and respect for all patients, carers and staff.

Mandatory Requirements:
