An exciting opportunity exists for a highly functioning multidisciplinary team member, deliver high level Social Work clinical services and leadership across one or more specific work units, to stakeholders/customers of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service and Queensland Health. Social Work clinicians within the acute hospital – social work teamwork as a team to meet clinical demand in keeping with Clinical Prioritisation Document. Staff will be required to work across other clinical services and facilities within Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service as required to assist in meeting patient care needs, managing leave cover, and succession planning of staff.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver independent high level Social Work clinical practice with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision. Exercise professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
  • Participate in a shift-worker roster (covering 24/7) with the provision of face to face clinical services to patients/consumers of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (with potential out-reach to other facilities as required) and the provision of telephone support to other SCHHS facilities.
  • Triage and deliver high quality social work clinical services as part of the Emergency Department multidisciplinary team – in order to optimise the psychosocial outcomes for patients and their families.
  • Provision of rostered 24/7 social work clinical support to vulnerable persons and/or dependents and caregivers – this may include: high risk, complex psychosocial cases including cases involving: child protection, significant injury or illness, sudden death, sexual assault, domestic and family violence, behavioural disturbances, homelessness, substance misuse, coronial/mortuary cases and at-risk adolescents.

Remuneration value up to $152,776 p.a., comprising salary rates $62.75 - $67.53 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (mulitple part time position avalaibe, various hours.).
