About you: 

You are an administration professional with demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the rules and regulations for applicants under the Right to Information and Information Privacy Act, other statutory, Administrative Access and release of confidential information requirements and the ability to apply this knowledge within the workplace. You have demonstrated experience and skills associated with the application of exemptions under the Right to Information and Information Privacy Act and experience in dealing with complex applications including facilitating, consulting, and negotiating with applicants to further define their application.

Your opportunity: 

Manage the coordination, processing and monitoring of the Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) requests in accordance with the relevant legislation and to act as the Delegated RTI & IP Decision Maker for Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

Your role: 

  • Act as a primary point of contact for RTI & IP enquiries for release of patient information.
  • Act as the primary delegated decision maker for applications under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).
  • Ensure all applications for access under the RTI & IP Acts are properly interpreted, acknowledged, and processed, in accordance with the relevant legislation including the legislative processing timeframes.
  • Maintain an accurate detailed record of all liaison activities and correspondence relating to each request and maintain an effective follow up system on all requests received, bearing in mind the stringent time-frame requirements specified in the relevant legislations.
  • Ensure that activity data is collected and reported to Queensland Health to fulfil the requirements of the RTI/IP legislation (and other mechanisms for access if and as required).
  • Manage all processes associated with an applicant seeking external review by the Information Commissioner, as required.
