The role:  

The Principle Data Analyst will be responsible for providing expert advice in delivering statewide data and analytics across digital and non-digital sites including:

  • Lead the delivery of key analytics and intelligence initiatives including the creation of reports, dashboards and analytical products.
  • Effectively utilise various sources of data and develop and implement effective techniques for the development, design, collection, interpretation, analysis and presentation of clinical data in a way that is meaningful for clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with clinical experts to ensure data and analytic products do not negatively impact patient safety or clinical workflows and align with legislative requirements.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for: 

  • Engage with experts within and external to Queensland Health to ensure opportunities for data sharing, collaboration, and consistency are capitalised.
  • Initiate and sustain engagement with clinical networks and key stakeholders across various disciplines to deliver successful outcomes through effective consultation, negotiation, issues resolution, and influence change.
  • Contribute to the strategic information management and reporting direction for digital hospitals, including the transition from non-digital-based reports, processes and measures.
  • Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills by working effectively with stakeholders across, and external to, Queensland Health to establish collaborative partnerships that improve the quality and use of statewide clinical data.

Are you right for this role?

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop, communicate and evaluate new innovative and creative approaches to address complex organisational issues in a clinical environment with respect to clinical information systems and measurement of programs and initiatives.

Additionally,

  • Previous experience in development and implementation of large-scale data and analytic solutions using a digital healthcare platform or similar.
  • Proven high level interpersonal and written communication skills which reflect the ability to liaise effectively, diplomatically and discretely, particularly with respect to appropriate management and handling of sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proven ability to analyse problems using statistical methodology, applying the appropriate statistical tests, to interpret and determine significance of outcomes.
  • Whilst not mandatory, it is highly desirable if you have experience in:
    • Perioperative clinical administration, data management, business process improvement or use of the ieMR SurgiNet Application
    • Emergency clinical administration, data management, business process improvement or use of the ieMR FirstNet Application
