Pathology Queensland has an exciting opportunity available for a Haematologist to join our QCH and Central Laboratories. The successful candidate will provide timely, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective diagnostic and consultation services that meet the clinical needs of referrers statewide. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with genetic pathology colleagues, laboratory scientific, technical, and operational staff to ensure service excellence, following recommendations and directives from the appropriate Medical Director(s) or Quality Manager.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in diagnostic pathology, and high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management.
  • Knowledge of the ISO 15189 NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in the relevant Pathology discipline (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.
  • The incumbent must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent.

On top of an attractive base salary, additional allowances include Motor Vehicle, Professional Development and Attraction and Retention (50% of base pay). The starting pay-point within the pay scale from L18 to L27 is determined by the years elapsed since specialist registration as a pathologist. Queensland Health also provides the opportunity to maximise your income by offering access to Salary Packaging options.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements

  • It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
