About us:

Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to Prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) including workcamps. COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1090 male Prisoners within CCC and CCF. The CCC receives and transitions Prisoners on release from and to geographical locations north to Mackay, south to Gladstone, east to Capricorn Coast, and west to Central Highlands.

About the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership, management, and clinical expertise relevant to the care of male Prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Centre and in the community setting for eligible Prisoners post release. The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) works in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultants, Nurse Educator and other COHS Senior Leadership Members to support the clinical Prisoner health service in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice in correctional nursing.

About you:

Mandatory qualification/s: Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: A relevant postgraduate diploma or master's degree or working towards this will be highly regarded. Experience in correctional nursing is desirable.

• Demonstrated advanced clinical evidence-based skill and knowledge in nursing, service coordination and interdisciplinary care management, evidenced by feedback, recency of practice and achieved clinical competencies transferable to correctional health care.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capability through the expressed knowledge of team engagement and human, financial and material resource management principles applicable to operational planning, coordination, and evaluation of prisoner health services.

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 p.a. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
