ACC Qualified Clinical Coder

My healthcare client require a Clinical Coder on a contract basis, 6 months inital (potential for longer)

Achieving accurate, timely and consistent clinical coding within set standards and targets by accurate reporting of Trust activity and ensuring the team develops and maintains a high quality and in-depth level of coding in line with the requirements of Payment by Results (PbR)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology anatomical and physiological terms acquired through work based training
  • Accredited Clinical coder (ACC) qualification
  • Experience in interpreting complex coding rules and conventions as specified in the ICD10 and OPCS manuals
  • Knowledge of coding procedures and conventions, including all specialties in an Acute environment
  • Analytical and judgemental skills so that you can deal with a broad range of complex activities and questions.

Ability to give judgement when opinions are divided when coding complex cases or previously un-coded procedures

Excellent communications skills including ability to relate to people at all levels within the organisation.

Ability to understand, interpret and retain complex clinical written information.

Prioritise workload in line with personal and team targets.

Excellent time management

Experience of multi-task working

Experience of interpreting new clinical coding policies, rules and conventionsKnowledge of Data Protection Act and information governance requirements

Desirable

Experience of IBM Cognos

Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
