POSITION PURPOSE
The Athletic Trainer works under the direction and supervision from the staff Physical and Occupational Therapists, assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. The Athletic Trainer will assess, plan, or implement fitness programs that include exercise or physical activities such as those designed to improve cardio respiratory function, body composition, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility for individual clients or groups. While at sporting events, the Athletic Trainer conducts an initial assessment of an athlete’s injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care to the patient and determine whether the patient should be referred to a physician for definitive diagnosis and treatment. The Athletic Trainer evaluates an athletes’ readiness to play and provides participation clearance as necessary, under the guidance of a Physical or Occupational Therapist. The Athletic Trainer applies protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers, and wrists. Also, assesses and reports the progress of recovering athletes to the coaches, Physical and Occupational Therapists and Physicians.

Status: Full-Time
Salary: $24.72 – $32.25 per hour DOE Housing Stipend available for residents of Grand, Summit and Jackson County.
