Nestled in the heart of the beautiful rural community of Wiarton is Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home. Alongside the picturesque Colpoys Bay in Wiarton, 100 residents call Gateway Haven Home. Built in 2003, the home has many wonderful features that contribute to the health and well being of our residents. The unique "C" shaped building allows each resident to have a view from their room whether it is a view of our beautiful park, surrounding neighbourhood or a picturesque view of Georgian Bay.
The success of the operation of Bruce County's Long Term Care Homes is built on the foundation that this is a true 'home' for all its Residents. Home is a place where residents may live with dignity and in security, safety, and comfort and have their physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs adequately met. Both Gateway Haven and Brucelea Haven operate as municipal homes, and the not-for profit structure allows for a level of care that is of exceptional quality while also being transparent in operation and accountability.

The Nursing department at Gateway Haven Long Term Care Home is currently accepting applications for the part time position of Registered Nurse. Responsible to the Director of Nursing for the provision, implementation and supervision of resident care to ensure quality of life for each individual resident. Delivers care, which is individualized and resident-focused. Required to assist with the planning and development of the resident care plan, which support the effective and efficient management of the nursing department. The Registered Nurse is expected to work in conjunction with all other departments in terms of care delivery.

Part-Time Days (6:00am - 2:00pm) & Evenings (2:00pm - 10:00pm)
Part-Time Nights (10:00pm - 6:00am)

Salary
The wage range for this position is $35.00 - $50.12 per hour, based on the ONA collective agreement. An additional 13% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation will also be paid.

- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Basic computer skills and current CPR certified.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- PIECES and or CAPCE / palliative level two preferred
- Three to five years experience as a registered nurse, preferably with experience in a long term care setting.
- Experience supervising other employees.
- Experience with documentation relative to MDS RAI and the use of PCC.
- Skilled in terms of the nursing process in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as a team member.
- Must demonstrate initiative, flexibility, adaptability, good organizational skills and good supervisory skills.
- Must be comfortable and highly skilled with all documentation, including nursing care planning relative to MDS RAI process.
- Must be resident / family oriented and view her/himself as an advocate of resident rights.
- Must exhibit strong leadership and crisis-intervention skills.
- Possession of good physical and mental health. Positive, professional demeanor and attitude.
- Criminal background check - vulnerable sector screen
- Two-step TB skin test
