About The Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our North Capel team! 

Our North Capel site is located in the South West of WA approximately 15 kilometres out of Bunbury and 5 kilometres from the Capel township. Enjoy the enviable coastal lifestyle of living in the South West, while also being home every night.

Reporting to the Principal Health & Safety Specialist, the primary purpose of this role is to provide guidance, advice, and practical support to employees and contractors to achieve expected health and safety outcomes.

Critical to this role is the ability to communicate, engage, and influence key stakeholders. 

This is a residential, permanent role, working a Monday to Friday 40-hour week.

Key elements of the role include: 

  • Assisting in the successful delivery of the Iluka South West Health & Safety Plan 
  • Providing professional advice to stakeholders on health and safety-related matters to ensure compliance with legislation and Iluka Standards and Procedures 
  • Conducting analysis of incident trends, monitoring safety performance, reporting on trends, and working on preventative strategies 
  • Leading/Facilitating ICAM investigations with site managers and supervisors 
  • Promoting health and safety through awareness, education and training 
  • Creating a positive safety culture on site by actively engaging and mentoring teams to enhance safety behaviours and actions 

About You  

To be successful for this role, you will have: 

  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety
  • Proven experience in a similar role in the resources sector
  • Knowledge and experience of investigation techniques such as ICAM and 5 Whys 
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills 
  • In-depth understanding and application of WHS mines legislation 
  • Experience in facilitating risk management, particularly critical risks 
  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels 
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and WHS reporting systems 
  • C Class Driver’s License
