Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting and rare opportunity exists for a motivate, enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Nurse to apply for a Fixed Term full-time (Maternity Leave Cover) Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) role.
The Child Inpatient Unit  is part of Austin Health's Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS)  in the Mental Health Division. It services children from metropolitan and regional areas of Victoria. The Unit has 12 beds and is based at the Austin Hospital. The Unit admits children aged 12 and under for assessment and treatment.

These children may be experiencing emotional, behavioural and/or social difficulties and have usually received some outpatient treatment. A high proportion of the children on the Unit are admitted under a planned circumstance for an admission usually for a number of weeks (often utilising weekend leave). The Unit does, however, also admit children under crisis circumstances for short periods.

The ANUM at Austin's Child Inpatient Unit  is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based, high quality mental health nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our children and their families. They are a reflective team member, that holds recovery orientated practice essential in all of their care delivery.

The Child Unit ANUM is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards are continually maintained to a high standard. The Child Unit ANUM is recognised as a clinical leader within the nursing team.
