Full Time Occupational Therapist in ECS in Airdrie & Calgary

Learning Potential Foundation is a private ECS looking for a Full Time Occupational Therapist who will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to plan and carry out programs, enable and support learning for the child and family members in our ECS programs. The children we work with are between 2-6 years of age and we utilize AB Ed funding to support children within our EAL, Mild/Mod, Mod, and PUF funded programs. The children we support range between Mild/Moderate, Moderate, and Severe OT delays and include varying levels of needs or diagnosis.

We work as a team and in collaboration with the teacher to develop strategies, coach and support team members and parents in daily classroom plans. Collaborate with teacher to develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals.

Learning Potential Foundation is an ECS provider with a head office in Airdrie, AB and we are looking for an OT for multiple sites across Airdrie & Calgary.

Qualifications

-The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic professional who is passionate about working with children, teachers, and families.

-A Degree/Masters (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy and proof of registration with ACOT are required.

-1 year of field experience, including evaluation, treatment, case management, and program development is required.

-Provide clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector search (dated within the past 6 months)

-Hold current First Aid/CPR status (or willing to obtain within 3 months of employment)

-Excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills with an ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and stakeholders

-Ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

-Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

-Analytical ability to evaluate clients with various diagnoses and establish an appropriate intervention plan

-High level of professionalism and confidentiality with an ability to deal with sensitive client issues

-Strong organizational, time-management and prioritizing skills

Responsibilities and Activities

  • Plan and implement the OT programming in alignment with the needs of the individual children
  • Conduct screenings and assessments
  • Implement and document outcome measures for services and participate in team meetings related to the individual child
  • Complete treatment summary reports and assessments as required and ensure adequate documentation
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team across preschool and daycare environments
  • Establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in order to ensure optimal service delivery
  • Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals

*Please note that we are hiring for the upcoming school year that will run from the end of Aug 2024-June 2025; however, if you would like, we can start your employment this June to participate in screenings and assessments as we prepare for the upcoming school year.
