ABOUT THE POSITION:

Join the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Brisbane (SVPHB) and Northside (SVPHN) teams as part of our Graduate Enrolled Nursing Program for August 2024, at our state-of-the-art Chermside location. This is a fixed term (0.8FTE) position where you will work with varied nursing styles to develop your skills and becoming one of our outstanding clinicians!

WHAT MAKES OUR GRADUATE PROGRAM STAND OUT:

As part of our genuine commitment to your learning and developing you into the exceptional clinician that we know you can be, we ensure that we have dedicated Clinical Nurses (Education) assigned to you and your ward, as well as a Clinical Education Coordinator.

This means that you will have a CN that is invested and dedicated to your performance to give you the best possible platform to launch your career from! During the program you will have three (3) dedicated workshop days where you will be taken off the floor to attend – it is important to St Vincents’ Health that we ensure you are given the time to focus on your learning and consolidate your existing clinical skills and knowledge. We are here to facilitate your transition from novice practitioner to a confident and competent professional nurse.

Even though our graduate program is 52-week fixed term, we are dedicated to setting you up for success. We will support you following successful completion of the graduate program to transition into one of the many opportunities available in the St Vincent’s Network. Currently SVPHN is running a Transition to Critical Care (ICU) and Cardiac Catheter Lab and Rapid Onboarding Perioperative program, which demonstrates our commitment to continually upskilling our employees.

OUR SPECIALTIES:

We have a variety of acute and sub-acute wards and specialties where you could develop your skill set, with the opportunities for two (2) x six (6) month rotations. Northside site includes: Urology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Oncology, Palliative Care, General medical and surgical, Gastrointestinal and Bariatric surgical, Medical Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgical and emergency with opportunities to progress to the ICU critical care transition program after completion of the graduate year. Brisbane site offers Rehabilitation, Medical, Pain Services, Palliative Care and Geriatric Medical Services. There is also a separate perioperative graduate program at Northside, including Cardiac Cath Lab (CCL), Endoscopy, theatres/anaesthetics and recovery.

In 2024, we are going to trial an exciting new program which allows our graduates to follow the patient journey through 2 of our speciality streams – Oncology & Palliative care stream and Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation stream. In this program the graduate nurse will have the opportunity to work across our 2 Brisbane hospitals.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have:

  • The ability to gain Enrolled Nurse registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) prior to the programme commencement.
  • The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Well-developed skills in communication, critical thinking, time management.
  • Highly developed patient centred and customer service skills.
  • Recent clinical placement experience in an acute hospital setting.

REMUNERATION:

The position of Graduate Enrolled Nurse, in addition to our competitive salary packaging options, is a Level 1, grade 5, with a base remuneration of: $36.69 hourly + superannuation + shift penalties + allowances.
