About the role

Metro North Health (MNH) is seeking highly motivated and experienced Senior Procurement and Contracts Officers to join our team! In this client-focused and transparent role, you'll play a vital role in planning, developing, negotiating and conducting procurement activities for Building Infrastructure and Maintenance Services (BIMS) across the entire organisation.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Metro North Health is committed to recruiting high-calibre individuals who can excel in this demanding role. We will be assessing candidates against the following criteria throughout the recruitment process:

  • Qualifications and Experience: A demonstrably strong track record in procurement, ideally within the health sector, with a proven ability to manage end to end procurement activities, particularly those involving maintenance service contracts and/or capital works utilising Australian Standard contracts.
  • Procurement Expertise: In-depth knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) and its application to capital works projects and/or service maintence contracts. This expertise includes strong understanding of contract management principles, best practices in ethical sourcing, and the ability to analyse and interpret relevant contracts to ensure alignment with the required scope of works.
  • Service and Maintenance Contracts: A demonstrably strong understanding maintenance service contract requirements, including performance guarantees, service level agreements (SLAs), and whole-of-life costing principles. Experience in managing the tender process for such contracts is advantageous.
  • Problem-Solving and Analysis: The ability to identify and analyse complex procurement challenges, particularly those arising in capital works projects governed by Australian Standard contracts and/or maintenance service contracts, develop effective solutions, and demonstrate a strong commercial acumen. Experience in utilising risk management frameworks to proactively address potential issues. A technical or capital works background will be advantageous in understanding and mitigating technical risks associated with procurement.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders with competing interests.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: A collaborative and team-oriented approach, with a proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including legal services, suppliers, and departmental personnel.
