About your opportunity:

The Townsville University Hospital, is looking for a Staff Specialist to join their Palliative Care team. On offer is permanent part-time (64 hours p.f.) 

The Eligible medical practitioners who move to Queensland from an interstate or international jurisdiction to take up permanent employment may receive up to $20,000 (pro rata) incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Scheme ( https://smartjobs.qld.gov.au/jobs/Queensland%20Health%20Workforce%20Attraction%20Scheme )

Generous remuneration package value up to $451,238 p.a. comprimising 

  • Base salary rates between $97.84- $124.05 p.h. (L18-L27)
  • Attraction and Retention incentive: 50% of base salary
  • Motor vehicle allowance of $21,000 p.a. (pro rate part-time)
  • Regional and Rural allowance: 5% of base salary
  • Recreational leave with a 17.5% loading/bonus
  • $21,500 p.a. professional development allowance, and 3.6 weeks p.a. leave (pro rata part-time)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/employment/conditions/salary/sacrifice ) are also available

Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.

  • The role of the Staff Specialist is to provide specialist Palliative Medicine as part of interdisciplinary care for patients referred to the Palliative Care Service of the Townsville University Hospital.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of Palliative Care Services within the Townsville University Hospital and the surrounding Health Service of North Queensland.
  • The appointed specialist would be expected provide a consultancy service delivering expert advice related to the management for clients requiring palliative care.
  • Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.

Requirements:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Palliative Medicine.
  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Specialist Registration You will hold specialist registration (or be eligible to hold) with AHPRA. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with sub speciality training in Palliative Care Medicine, or Fellowship in the Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FAChPM).
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
